Green Cards
I'm so excited about my new green product! Locally produced (Colorado Springs), 100% recycled AND Acid & Lignin Free! The best of all worlds. The 4x6 photo gets tucked into the card where it's held firmly in place (unlike so many cards you slide your photo into and they slip all over the place) in the 5x7 card. Acid & Lignin Free means you can slide it right into a frame without worry of corrosion. Sold in a protective plastic sleeve and each card signed by KT Imagery artist, Katy Tuleja.
These cards with KT Imagery high quality images, calendars and prints will be available next weekend- November 13 - at Santa Celler in Broomfield. (See my entry 2 down.) And will be coming to my Etsy Shop soon!

Idaho Springs, Colorado
I went up to Idaho Springs today to check out a boutique store where I may offer my fine art photography for sale. The glowing trees in front of the waterfall caught my eye and I couldn't help but snap a few shots.
I met a man selling cretaceous fossils and got lured into his collection with my son's "Cretaceous Awesomeness" science project in mind. My eight year old now has a Triceratops tooth, and I have an hour of my life filled with the stories of a modern nomad.

Colorado Renaissance Festival
I went to the Renaissance Festival this weekend with my son. I hadn't been in years and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself! Great entertainment, beautiful displays and shops, and the weather was perfect (which is hard to come by mid-July in Colorado, Usually it's boiling hot!).
Here's a photographic display of some of the best.
(Although, I didn't photograph Puke & Snot, which was a fantastic comedy!)
Please do not copy or reproduce these photos without express consent from KT Imagery.

I have to give introduction to Wilsome's Great Balls of Fire. This guy was a blast to watch, and funny, too. And possibly a touch crazy...
Couldn't pass up the joust!
The elephants were beautiful, but the chained up domestication saddened me.
Nymph? Fairy? I don't know, but she's gorgeous!

Colorado Hike with my Son
I went on a hike yesterday at Matthews Winters Park near (in?) Morrison, Colorado with my son and dog. It made me appreciate what a beautiful state we live in.
This first shot seems to epitomize, to me, Colorado's foothills at their finest. The cobalt sky, green grass, red rocks and colorful wild flowers show off why the southwest is known for its colorful vibrance. Oh, and the little guy and his dog on top of the rock - Denver's active lifestyle. Okay, okay, I'm missing the snow-capped grandeur of the Rocky Mountains, but I almost captured it all!
It was late afternoon when we began our hike and the sun was at a beautiful angle in the sky, lighting up the hillside and making the seeding dandelions glow. We were interrupted by a brief, light rain that's a common summertime occurance in the Denver Metro area, that made the whole scene glow even more beautifully. This shot is after the rain. (Note to self: Invest in an umbrella - yes, even in Colorado.)
We passed several hikers, many other dog-walkers, bicyclists and these two boulderers. Welcome to Colorado - did I mention we're an active bunch? So likely many of you are just hearing about bouldering for the first time. What they're carrying on their backs are not heavy duty backpacks for a month in the wild. They are bouldering pads. Think of gymnastic pads you can carry on your backs. WHY? Rock climbing large boulders that are too low to warrant tying into a rope and harness, but nobody's looking to hurt themselves on purpose. So they arm themselves with padded landings and a partner to spot them and push or pull their fall to the pad.
The boulderers passed by my son and dog on the path and commented on my son's excellent trail etiquette as he pulled the dog to sit out of the way and told the boulderers, "have a nice day!" Lupine growing in the foreground.
How could I resist with a little kid and dandelions seeding everywhere? Had to be done...
A Yucca plant in bloom. I'm fascinated by these in general, and this particular spray of foliage was too appealing to pass up. I love how this turned out with the surrounding tufts of little flowers like a bouquet. And the yucca's sharp points are always photogenic and dramatic. But the look of the photo somehow has an antique, soft feel to me. . . The cloud cover, the pinkish tint of the Yucca blooms. . . I didn't expect as much from this shot when I took it, and now I love it!

The Art of Sitting
It's probably the most under-rated activity: sitting. And yet, there are benches in the darnedest places, so perhaps there are more people than just me who really appreciate a good sit.
The wishing trees aren't the only magic in this Colorado destination. From the bench you can look down upon the labrynth. An ancient form of walking meditation or prayer, the path weaves you in and then back out. Minutes later I was walking the path myself, scattering sea shells as I went, intending nothing more than to get back to the ocean. Hoping to use the physics of the world hating a vacuum, I got rid of my sea shells so that the universe would open up the opportunity for me to collect more!
While I'm landlocked in Colorado for the time being, I often think of the sea cliffs of Maui, where bohemith waves pound mercilessly at the black lava rock. And knowing that this exists in the world makes me profoundly grateful.
I didn't realize just how wonderful a bench could be until I was on a trail in Maui that I could see would overlook the sea cliffs. And then, to my delight, I spotted a bench perched on the cliff, awaiting me. It was then that I realized the joy of sitting... Or at least the joy of anticipating sitting.
I ran most of the trail to get to this destination. (I'm not a runner, I just live in Colorado where the air is thin, so sea level oxygen makes me feel like Hercules.) I thought at the time that maybe I'd write a book - kind of like the Bridges of Madison County... But this would be the Benches of Wherever I go... Catchy title, eh?
I'd forgotten about my quest for great places to sit until I found myself near Castle Rock earlier this week, and caught a peak up at the bench situated on top of a hill where the wind whips through the trees. This is a special place where trees have been planted just to catch the wind, and ribbons are tied on with wishes and prayers so that those blessings take flight into the air. A make-shift prayer flag, customized by each visitor. "You are loved. All is well," whispers a pink ribbon in the wind. "Forever..." in blue. "I wish..." in white. "...And joy." in orange. "Peace for..." in yellow.
Of course, the views are the best part of these lovely wooden beams on which to rest the bum.

Zion National Park, Utah in Black & White
I have a KT Imagery customer interested in black and white images of Zion. Nice inspiration to pull these out and look at them in a new way. I went in Fall when the leaves were bright and colorful. In black and white, those colorful leaves look brilliantly bright, almost a negetive image.
Brilliantly lit fall leaves frame the cliffs of Zion National Park.
Desert sandstone carved by waters in Zion.
Tiny slot canyon in the making in Zion.
Skeletal tree in front of Zion National Park.
